Gender Equality
We make it a priority to integrate gender equality into our work to ensure that all genders are involved in decision-making processes and research aimed at building the climate resilience of our communities. Climate change affects men and women in different ways, and to create fair solutions, we take these differences into account when addressing broader climate goals. With a strong understanding of community structure, we focus on addressing certain gender barriers by encouraging inclusive discussions and bringing everyone into the climate conversation. This approach strengthens EcoSciGen’s efforts to find solutions that truly include all perspectives.
In many Nigerian communities, women are often left out of key decision-making processes, even though they play a huge role in areas most affected by climate change. We work with these communities to create initiatives that prioritise women’s experiences and knowledge in climate adaptation efforts. At the same time, we support both men and women to take on leadership roles through training and resources that empower them to lead climate actions locally. This ensures that the solutions we develop are truly inclusive and equitable.
