SACA Project Team Visits Oyo State Commissioner for Education - Receives Warm Support and Encouragement

As part of ongoing efforts to empower young people through sustainable agriculture and climate education, the SACA Project team recently paid a courtesy visit to the Oyo State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Segun Olayiwola on the 30th of May 2025.
The visit was rooted in a shared vision to equip youth with the skills and knowledge to adapt to climate risks while promoting food security across schools in the state. During the meeting, the SACA team lead- Jumoke Omodeni shared the project’s mission, current milestones, and plans to scale its impact across more communities and schools in Oyo state and across Nigeria.
Hon. Segun commended the team for the innovation behind the project, especially its focus on youth as key drivers of food security and sustainable development. He emphasized the importance of youth-led initiatives in strengthening food systems and building climate resilience in Oyo State.
He also offered valuable advice on how to sustain the project within schools and shared his appreciation for the ongoing support from partners including the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), the International Secretariat for Water (ISW), and the 1 Million Youth Action Challenge (1MYAC). He reaffirmed the Ministry’s readiness to collaborate on initiatives that promote climate education.
This visit marks a meaningful milestone for the SACA Project, one that strengthens its path toward deeper impact and long-term sustainability in schools across the state.
